He entered North Korea as a healthy 21-year-old
He was arrested for allegedly trying to steal a poster - though we don't even know for sure whether he did actually try to steal a poster or North Korea made that up to detain an American.
He was then sentenced to 15 years hard labor - for supposedly trying to steal a fucking poster.
Then something went wrong that deprived his brain of oxygen and/or blood for an extended period of time, and then over a year after that they released him in a vegetative state; he died a few days later.
Which is more likely: that something related to his forced hard labor and the conditions in which he was living and laboring caused something (heart attack, botulism, whatever) to go wrong and he likely wasn't immediately adequately treated...or that a healthy 21-year-old was reading a book by the pool and suddenly had a heart attack?
Sure, the latter is possible, but much less likely, and if that had been the case, why didn't they release him immediately and provide that "innocent" explanation instead of waiting over a year and making something up?
Of course, none of that would even matter if he hadn't been imprisoned for something as stupid as trying to steal a poster, which kicked off a chain of events that left him dead.
And to tie that directly to Kim Jong Un...if you don't think that he is fully aware of what's going on with the detaining and imprisonment of foreigners (especially Americans) in his country, then I don't know why I bothered typing out the rest of this.
We'll never know what actually happened, but common sense, logic, and general probabilities tell the story that Otto entered healthy, left (essentially) dead, and Kim Jong Un oversaw all of it.
